Want Blog Posts Delivered to Your Inbox?
I hear you’re taking my advice and writing your ebook. Good for you! And like any other writer, you want your hard work to pay off with maximum profit. Now’s the time to think about how you’ll promote your ebook.
The first ebook I wrote was the Halloween Wedding Planner. While I wrote the book I brainstormed marketing methods, and I realised that a blog was the best method for ebook marketing.
Why a blog? A blog has all the benefits of a simple website – it’s indexed by the search engines and provides your business with an online presence. You can set up a shopping cart on most blogs and process ebook payments directly.
And a blog has many advantages over a website. Your blogs readers can interact with your content by posting comments, involving themselves in discussions, participating in polls and surveys, and subscribing to your feed. Use your blog like a market research tool to guage demand for your products.
Also, you can set up a blog yourself with little knowledge of HTML, Java or complicated web design programs. Wordpress (which this blog is hosted) and other tools like blogger or livejournal prvodie you with all the templates and tools you need.
Hosting a blog on one of these sites is FREE, which means you have no excuse NOT to do it.
I set up the WeddingSkulls blog before the ebook was even complete, and started writing posts about planning alternative weddings. I made comments on other blogs within my niche and within a few days, traffic started pouring onto my blog and I started making sales.
With each new post, a new set of keywords brings searchers to your site. Wow them with your free content and they’ll happily purchuse your ebook for more information.
Your blog also serves as a source of inspiration. My blog readers love my posts on where to buy gothic and halloween wedding items, I combined the links together into the Halloween Wedding Directory, the free ebook I give away with the Halloween Wedding Planner. Blog posts and reader comments have spurred the ideas for my next two Wedding Skulls products.
Choose a blog for your ebook promotion vehicle. Blogs are simple to write and publish, and useful as market research tools to guage reader reactions to your products. I’m never going to say ‘if you promote using a blog, you’re GUARANTEED to sell $1000 a day,’ but what I WILL say is that blogging to promote my ebooks works for me, and for thousands of fellow writers, and it could work for you too.
